Working with us
Terms and conditions
Last updated 3 October 2026
The terms for EICRs, repairs, installations and other electrical work we carry out — what we agree to do, what we ask of you, and your rights.
About these terms
These terms apply whenever you book or ask us to carry out work, including EICRs booked online. Please read them with our refund and cancellation policy and our privacy policy, which form part of them.
Local Electrician 24-7 Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16472847. Registered office: 23 Assheton Crescent, Manchester M40 1NN. We trade from Grove House, Seymour Grove, Old Trafford, Stretford, Manchester M16 0TU. We are an NICEIC Approved Contractor.
Contact us on 07999 553 838, by WhatsApp or at office@localelectrician24-7.co.uk.
Where these terms say "you", they mean the person who books or asks for the work. Some parts apply only to consumers (people acting outside a business) and are marked as such.
Quotes and prices
- Online EICR bookings are £69 for any domestic property. The price on the booking form is the total you pay.
- Other work is priced in a quote or estimate before we start. A quote is a fixed price for the work described in it; an estimate is our best judgement of the cost where the full extent of the work can't be known until we start, and we'll explain why.
- If, once work is under way, we find that more work is needed than the quote covers — for example hidden damage or a fault that isn't visible beforehand — we'll stop, explain and give you a price. We won't carry out or charge for extra work unless you agree to it.
Booking and our agreement
When you book an EICR online, our agreement starts when we confirm your booking by email after payment. For other work, it starts when you accept our quote or estimate — in writing, by message or by phone.
If you book work for a property you don't own or live in — for example as a landlord or letting agent — you confirm that you are authorised to arrange it, and that the occupiers have been told the date and time of the visit.
Payment
- Online EICR bookings are paid in full when you book, by card through Stripe (or by PayPal where offered).
- For other work, payment is due as set out in your quote or estimate.
- Your report or certificate is issued once the work it relates to has been paid for.
- Materials and equipment we supply remain ours until they have been paid for. Manufacturer guarantees on them pass to you.
Access and your responsibilities
So that we can work safely and finish the job, please:
- make sure someone over 18 is there to let us in at the agreed time, or give us the details of the person who will be;
- give us clear access to the consumer unit (fuse box) and, for an EICR, to every room as far as possible;
- tell us about anything we should know before we start — for example asbestos, previous electrical problems, or medical or other equipment that must not lose power;
- keep pets, and children where possible, away from the work area;
- back up computers and save your work before the visit, as the power will be switched off for parts of it.
If we arrive at the agreed time and can't get in, or can't reach the consumer unit, the visit is charged as set out in our refund and cancellation policy.
Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
- An EICR is an inspection and test of the fixed electrical installation as it is on the day. It isn't a guarantee of its future condition, and it doesn't cover portable appliances.
- We inspect the parts of the installation that can be reached safely without causing damage. We don't lift fixed floor coverings or floorboards, open up walls or ceilings, or move heavy furniture unless we've agreed this with you. Anything we couldn't inspect, and any other limits on the inspection, are recorded in the report.
- Each issue we find is coded C1 (danger present), C2 (potentially dangerous), C3 (improvement recommended) or FI (further investigation needed).
- If we find a danger to people or property (C1), we'll tell you straight away and, with your agreement, make it safe — usually by switching off and isolating the affected circuit. If you decide not to let us, we'll record that you were told about the danger.
- We send the report to you by email once it's complete. Any remedial work is quoted separately, and you're free to use any qualified electrician for it.
Installations and repairs
- We carry out our work to the current edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and in line with the Building Regulations.
- When the work is finished, you'll receive the certificate the work calls for. Where work must be notified under the Building Regulations, we notify it through NICEIC, and you'll receive a Building Regulations compliance certificate.
- We're responsible for the work we carry out. We aren't responsible for faults in parts of the existing installation we didn't work on, beyond telling you about anything we notice.
- Old or worn fittings, switches and cables can fail when they are tested or worked on. If this happens, we'll tell you, make the installation safe and give you a price to replace them.
Changing or cancelling
You can cancel or move an online EICR booking free of charge any time before we arrive — the details, including refunds, are in our refund and cancellation policy.
Consumers also have 14 days to cancel a contract made online, by phone or away from our premises. If you ask us to start within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work done up to that point. Once the service has been fully provided at your request, the right to cancel ends.
If we need to change an appointment, we'll tell you as early as we can and agree a new time with you. If the new time doesn't suit you, you can cancel and get a refund of anything you've paid for work not yet done.
Events outside our control
We aren't responsible for delays caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, road closures, a power cut on the network, or a supplier failing to deliver. If that happens we'll contact you, keep you updated and agree a new time — or you can cancel and get a refund for work not yet done.
Photos and records
We may take photos of the installation and keep test results as a record of our work. We won't publish photos that show your property or identify you without your permission. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
If something isn't right
If you're a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires our work to be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and goods we supply to be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If something isn't right, tell us as soon as you can and we'll put it right at no cost to you. If we can't, you're entitled to a fair price reduction or a refund.
If you're unhappy with our service, contact us first on 07999 553 838 or at office@localelectrician24-7.co.uk and we'll do our best to resolve it quickly. If we can't resolve a complaint about our electrical work together, you can raise it with NICEIC.
Our responsibility to you
- We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
- We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable when our agreement was made, or for loss caused by things you didn't tell us about, such as equipment that lost power during a visit we had agreed.
- If you're a business, we aren't responsible for loss of profit, revenue or business opportunity.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit — and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms and the law that applies
We may update these terms from time to time; the version that applies is the one on this page when you book. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute can be brought in the courts of England and Wales.
